Business Spotlight – Sheila Stamp from Travel Counsellors

Now we have changed the clocks and face longer nights and cooler days, our thoughts often turn to holidays and sunshine. Sheila Stamp from Travel Counsellors is someone who might be able to turn those daydreams into reality as she helps to realise clients travel dreams by turning them into reality.

We asked Sheila about her work as a Travel Counsellor and some memorable trips that she had helped make come true for her clients.

How would you describe Travel Counsellors?

I treat all clients with a personal service, and I am there for them before, during and after they return from holiday. A recent example of this was when Hurricane Ian hit Florida and the Caribbean and I was advising clients, or during the pandemic, I rang a client in Australia at midnight to advise their travel plans had changed and they were having to come home 4 days earlier due to travel restrictions in Dubai.

What is your average client like?

Every client is different, and each travel arrangement is personal to them. They can be looking for short breaks here in the UK to trips that take them across continents. It is part of the job that I love as you never know what you will be planning next.

Can you tell us about the trips you love to arrange?

I think my favourite ones are those when you arrange experiences that cannot be found in a brochure where clients are making one of the ‘bucket list’ or once-in-a-lifetime type holidays or trips. Those are very special to help plan.

What is the most memorable trip you have planned?

For me, it must be a trip I planned for someone recently. This two-month trip took in Central and South America, including Costa Rica, Colombia, Peru, Argentina and Brazil. As well as stopping in some incredible destinations such as Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, there are some fantastic experiences along the trip including carnivals, canyon tours, snorkelling, coffee tours and a sloth safari.

What's the simplest trip you've arranged?

As well as the tailor-made trips, I can also book a short three-night stay in the Lake District or a package holiday that someone has seen on Jet2.

How can people contact you?

People can contact me either by email, phone or social media. They can also visit the website.
